Goals and expectations.

We have now left the space/time realm that you consider reality.  That reality is a construct which no longer has any meaning to virtually anyone except for the owners and seekers of power.
The spirit world is seeking to reconfigure the "world of men" into a form which will allow nature and man to exist in union before the destruction is irreversable.
What are the new rules and parameters of the society yet to be formed?  How will these transformations take place, and what will be the backlash created by those in power who will inevitably be pushed aside by these forces?
I believe we should start to consider the possibilities that this kind of future will come to pass.  Artists have been fortelling this kind of eventually for years now.  The sychophantic artists pandering to the ruling class will eventually be considered obsolete, if they have not already......the wealth and value of these commercial products and the intellectual backbone will collapse under historical scrutiny.

Life Forms

I actually find this one a bit scary myself........I see a creature, maybe an ant, maybe a spider........boring into the ground.  Beneath the surface in the red area are trapped spirits perhaps.....or a sea in or ground in which the spirits are held..........makes me think of another world inhabited by sentient life forms very different from our own........

I have been thinking a lot about how relationships get complicated by speculation........what does the other person "really" feel about me, what do I in turn truly feel.  And built into this unending speculation is the idea of the self, the one you are alone with, and the one you are comfortable projecting into the public.

The act of creating is I think a solitary act.......one where this kind of internal dialog seperates from the normal day to day interaction.......I read that Patti Smith goes to a coffee shop to write.......I would guess for inspiration, but also I would think to be outside that internal space which can become suffocating.  For me music and routine help.......but I have been working on meditating during the painting to shut off the internal dialog altogether.

In this image I see a horse rearing up with a rider........two creatures in a symbiotic relationship.....with viewers safely behind a fence observing.........perhaps this is a metaphor for the symbiotic relationship between creator and creation..........

Two States.

These are the first and final states of today's print.  After the first print I used the ink left on the place to "fill in" the upper dark brown area and add some tones to the foreground figures.  Then I "painted in" the background by mixing yellow ochre, burnt sienna, and transparent base to deepen the background and seperate it from the figures.

Happy Holidays!

Hello!  Happy Holidays to all!!!

almost finished with the first layer of color tip in..........

Monday, December 23, 2013

This mornings print.......Dec 23 .2013  I started with the blue field and
overprinted the yellow.

This is a painting that I had laying around which I was not happy with.....the background was all blue and the figures were just hanging there......so I layered in the yellow passage and then took some of the figures and used a transparent yellow glaze to sit them back into the yellow space.  Then I darkened the blue space with a transparent red glaze to deepen and set it back more.  I am considering a final glaze of transparent blue over the entire yellow background field to set it back more......but this layer has to dry first.

LIB Magazine

Just had an article posted today on an online magazine ......LIB Magazine.........thought I would post the link here........

The End

DEc 18........so this month I went to Art Basel in Miami. I went to the main fair and saw a pyramid made of rolls of Toilet Paper. So I thought it was some kind of inside joke or something. Then as I walked away I overheard a man say to his wife...."thats a tower of toilet paper, right?", like he could not believe it, really, thought it was ridiculous.
So what is being reviewed in the NY times today, by Roberta Smith, the critic with the most influence in the city? You know here insight? That the center of the rolls made a black circle, which gives extra significance to the minimalist work.
Yesterday I had a conversation with a gallery owner who thought it was funny that a pet goat headbut a child knocking him to the floor. And was incredulous when I said it was not funny.
I know these rants guarantee that I would never have a shot in the art world, but at this point I am pretty indifferent if not a bit confused by the whole thing anyway.

Kind of like the idea of the light color printed first then overprinting on the second pass.  That is how these 2 were created.

These 2 are acrylic paintings done at the QAS event at Webster Hall monday night.

tonight at Webster Hall in NYC at 6!

Here I used saran wrap to create the background texture.  There are 3 layers here, I did a fill layer with the yellow of the foreground figures. Then I did a fill on the bottom background part to set it back

Tonight I will be painting at Webster Hall in the city, another QAS event.......maybe I can do a talk again as I did last time......

Ghost............did the first print at left.........then had some ink left on the plate and printed a "ghost" image.......I took the shapes from the first piece and modified them just a bit.

Last nights reception was really nice........turned into a dance party.......a nice night.

What do you see?

So after a year of working on the prints I am trying to get a handle on what I might be trying to say with the work.  My philosophy is to just make them without the filter of a conceptual intent, which of course is a conceptual intent.

It is definitely not a world we commonly live in.  My friend says .....".a visual playground that pecomes a personal image instantly".  Better than anything I have come up with.........any comments on what you percieve would be most welcome.

Opening Friday December 135h

This is a print/painting.......first layer print..........then I painted in the blue and green........then overprinted the foreground........then used a light wash of color over the sky area to drop it back.......

I am having an opening this Friday night at Campari Restaurant in Northport at 8pm..........packing up for the install tomorrow........stop by if you would like........

This is yesterdays print........forgot to post it.

Monday, December 9, 2013

Busy week.......I am hosting a drawing night at my home......first time see if I get enough people to keep it going......Friday opening at Campari Restaurant in Northport.......Sunday painting live at Parachute event in Brooklyn, then painting at the QAS at Webster Hall in the city on Monday........

This shows the sequence.......made the first print......thought it looked a but unfinished.  Used the ghost image, what was left of the ink, and re-inked the plate combining new color and old, then reprinted over in registration.  Viola.

Went to Art Basel in Miami Friday and Saturday this weekend.  So much really great art out there, all in one place.  It is pretty overwhelming.  Spoke to many people, of course my first thing is to consider if I made an ass of myself, but that's just me.

One observation is how quickly things become obsolete, or yesterdays news.......What was last years big find are now at smaller galleries.....

but in general a celebration of culture and ideas, and people's sincere dedication to the improvement of the human condition.  Really great.

Brush Edges.

This piece is direct painting on the stone/paper.  It is around 6"x8" painted with the monoprint inks.
This one went through many changes and experiments with the brushes until I finished with this state.

To Miami and Beyond.

Todays work was not  a print, I painted directly on Terra Skin, which is a paper which is made from crushed stone and resin.  I am currently out of paper and I save this material for times like these.

This is where the painting I am working on is at this point........Almost have the first color orientation layer completed......

I am heading down to Art Basel in Miami for a couple of days, check out the art world's biggest market.  Maybe sit on the beach and read a book........
