Time
Has a way

I follow time
Am part of time

Cannot run from time
I must flow with time

Or time will overrun me
Overwhelm my spirit

I will chase time
Until it is time to end.

Red car passes by

I stand by a riverbank

Cold, yet full of life

A branch collapses

Far away desire reconsiders

Accomplishments, retreats, introspections

Brushing away regret like an unwanted wrinkle

Upon the day, an incantation

Be better than yourself

Treat remorse like ice on a river

As a red car passes by

Hear the sounds of the day

As you turn away.

Where are the words

Nothing left. Lives emaciated.

Sun rises. Waters recede.

I breathe in. Slowly

Not for effect, to fill the empty places

Eyes shut.
