overdone?

So this was a large sheet of paper......30x40 or so........it went through a few states to get to the lighter version........
I am thinking I should have left it alone.......I might have gone one step too far.  My main concern was to "clean up" the background.......that is the thing with these prints.....you really cannot go back to a previous state.

Horizons..........

Two new prints this morning.........I had considered both to be vertical images, but chose this orientation because I thought it was more "challenging".  I did have an idea of mounting the works to a "lazy susan" and mounting it on the wall so that the viewer could rotate the piece to change the view.  I know I can mount the image to a wood substrate but have not figured out how to adhere it to the lazy susan or the wall yet.......

 The top image was the original laying in of the forms........the bottom image is the first color glaze layer...today I will add shadows and darks, rebuild the lights, then when dry add another layer of color.

Paintings progress

 This is a painting I began yesterday, March 31.  I started by laying in the line work, then using primary colors, block in the forms.  I will finish laying in this layer this morning and rework the highlights if the paint does not move around too much.

The final print is the large piece.  The first state is here, as well as the plate I created to overprint the first image........I thought it needed a bit more density all around.........thought it would be interesting to show the plate before printing.

The Master

The top image was created listening to a Cello solo.......not sure if it had anything to do with it......the one below was finished today........adding the blue and a yellow layer over the piece as I left it yesterday.

Just watched the film The Master.........very strange and disturbing........anyone reading this see it?

Utopia.......

 I have been thinking a lot about what the future holds for us as a species.  The outlooks seems pretty grim these days....global warming, population, food, man it all seems to be heading off a cliff. 

I have been trying to get my head around a utopian vision......an idea of what we can aspire to, a set of ideals of social as well as cultural interaction which can at least mitigate some of these overwhelming concerns.

We should be more optimistic, don't you think?  The technology revolution has changed everything.......except we have not figured out where we all fit in I think.........
