talking about art.

so......a humble attempt at talking about some ideas behind my art making........

never give up!

many layers on this one....actually went too far and was going to toss the image alltogether.  then figured I could try to bring it back a bit with the white.  I am pretty happy with the result and happy I did not give up on it..........

these are 2 designs I am turning into t-shirts.........I will have them in a week or so, if anyone is interested please drop me a note!

Rosetta stone

This one reflects one of my original ideas. This is a tablet with abstract symbols, like a rosetta stone.  When I first started out I would create pages of these forms.....like chinese characters, but really small abstract compositions.  I incorporated these forms into my early pen and ink works.

this is a design for a t shirt series I am working on.  I am heading to Miami for the art fairs and thought it would be fun to hand out a few shirts to people on the street.........

blue layers

the black and white is the original print.....the print above is 2 layers of transparent glaze......first being cobalt blue, the second blue mixed with black. each overlayer exposed the original black and some of the white layer for density.

Layers.

many layers on this one......it started with the idea of an equation......imaginary........in black and white then added a few individual color layers.  I am considering adding another layer of transparent blue....

the quiet days are the most harrowing sometime........

this is a new tack on the prints.......the paper is from a roll and is 24"x50".........thinking of making scrolls that would hang from the ceiling......this is my first attempt............

so the conversation is about the contemporary art scene being corrupted by money........and that the artist is being strategic about what is made......creating a psudo patronage state.

Perhaps......but I think the system has to be subverted to create change.  The weird thing is that only so many people are going to be open to looking at different work, so therefore the paradox of creating and selling.

So I will be showing a couple of pieces at the Aqua art fair this December in Miami.......and will promote it as much as I can so maybe I can sell a piece or 2 and pay for this adventure.  Find a new audience maybe.......see this is how it goes.........
